“As global citizens and nephrologists, we are reminded about the critical importance of global health and the need to equip the next generation of healthcare workers at home and abroad with the necessary skills, mindset and experiences to care for patients with kidney disease.”
We strongly believe that now is the time to transform global health education programs. Academic institutions need to share resources and experiences to build sustainable education change. We highly recommend that low-middle-income institutions receive a key role in program and strategy development, implementation and monitoring. This piece was developed in collaboration by colleagues from the partner institutions Charité – Universitaetsmedizin Berlin, Yale University School of Medicine and Makerere University.
